It has been more than four years since my last post. I guess, real life issues took over my free time to such an extend that the Commodore 64 hobby was put on hold. The primary reason was because I have renovated our 1000 sqft (90m²) basement in our 1939 house. This included lowering the foundation to increase the ceiling height, dig drain boxes around the house for drainage pipes and insulation. I also updated the plumbing, added a ventilation system, a new heating system, rewired all the electric, added a home theater with build in loudspeakers, put in ceiling loudspeakers in all rooms, added a water softener, build a network rack, gave myself a man cave and heaps of other things to upgrade the house. When I was finally done, I opened the basement door and walked outside and built a new garage…
Come on, is that really all you have managed to do for the last four years? Well, my wife wanted a dog so in return I got my first a motorcycle… I obviously had to mod it and did it bobber style (and got quite acquainted with talking to the nice road assistance people when it continously died on me…).
…I also looked into some drone flying…
As all the hardship is coming to an end, I thought it was about time I picked up my soldering iron and got busy with the Commodore 64 hobby again. It turns out, that I have a few projects laying around that need building. I have some nice new breadbox cases, a transparent MechBoard64, a C64 micro laptop, a new upright arcade build and some new C64 keycaps. I have also visited Bip Bip Bar arcade bar (link) in Copenhagen, Denmark and even met the legendary Kim ‘Kanonarm’ Köbke (‘canon arm’) who holds the world record for playing Gyruss for more than 52 hours straight using a single quarter… It has also come to my attention that the Commodore brand was sold to PeriFractic and friends – awesome! So many nice things have happened in the Commodore community. Stay tuned!!
