MechBoard64 Available

After a few years away from the Commodore 64 hobby, I am now slowly getting back into it again (link). As part of this, I have parts for a very limited batch of the MechBoard64 Light Mod Edition (Board Revision 1.07) (link, link). I currently have parts for keyboards with either Gateron KS-8 linear Yellow (50 g force) switches or Gateron KS-8 clicky Blue (60 g force) switches. Both types of keyboards can be equipped with either white or blue LEDs. I also have one keyboard eqiupped with Gateron KS-8 linear Black (60 g force) linear switches and blue LEDs.

Each keyboard comes preinstalled with a red ShiftLock LED. 3D printed adapters for mounting original C64 keycaps are included (keycaps are not included) along with a keycap puller for easy removal of keycaps. Costar stabilizers, Costar plate clips and Costar keycap inserts for the Spacebar and Return keys are also included.

The keyboard connects to both short board and longboard Commodore 64 motherboards. It also works with the C64 Reloaded and Ultimate 64 modern-day motherboard versions of the Commodore 64. The connection is established using the included ribbon cable.

Each MechBoard64 unit includes the following:

  • One MechBoard64 with Gateron KS-8 microswitches (linear yellows or clicky blues)
  • One 1.6 mm black MechBoard64 PCB (version 1.07 – light mod edition) with white silkscreen text
  • Two spare microswitches (linear yellows/clicky blues)
  • Blue or white LEDs installed in all microswitches (2 spare LEDs are included)
  • Laser cut 1.5 mm aluminum keyboard bracket with black powder coating
  • Pre-installed red ShiftLock LED
  • Black high-quality 3D printed keycap adapters for original C64 keycaps (keycaps not included)
  • Costar stabilizers for the Space and Return keys
  • Costar plate clips and keycap inserts for the Space and Return keys
  • Ribbon cable
  • Keycap puller for easy removal of keycaps
  • Installation manual in English (online assembly instructions can be found here, link)
