New Breadbox Cases

Back in 2015, original molds for the Commodore 64C slim cases were put into production as I have described previously (link, link). I really enjoyed getting new cases for my machines, but my childhood Commodore 64 was the breadbox version. I was therefore thrilled when I learned, that there had been a Indiegogo campaign (link) back in 2024 producing breadbox cases. As I missed the crowdfunding campaign, I got a few cases from Retro Fuzion (link) who did the Indiegogo campaign.

The breadboxes came in very nice boxes with plenty of foam for protection. Each case came with stickers, badges, color matched side plates, power LED and screws for the keyboard and motherboard.

The nice thing about these cases is that there are brass inserts for machine screws instead of selftapping screws. The latter has previously caused me some issues when the brittle plastic broke, especially on the original cases. The finish of the new Commodore breadbox cases is really good and they should not turn yellow as time passes by like the old cases do. Below are some images of the blue case.

I also got a grey case.

The true gem of the cases is the clear one. This one is a real beauty! Check out how the clear case looks with real hardware mounted here (link)

Not much to say about the build quality other than it is great and a true upgrade to any yellowed orignal breadbox case.
